The cast of Quentin Tarrento’s ninth film Once Upon A Time In Hollywood have been doing the rounds promoting the blockbuster movie ahead of it’s highly anticipated release. Throughout their press tour Leonardo Dicaprio, Margot Robbie and Brad Pitt have covered a gambit of topics; from whether Jack really had to drown in *that* Titanic scene; to addressing the controversy surrounding how much screentime Tarrentino gave Margot’s character Sharon Tate.
Most recently, Tarantino revealed that one of the film’s lead roles almost went to Misson Impossible and Top Gun actor Tom Cruise. Getting into the nitty-gritty of making Once Upon A Time and recreating Los Angles in the ’60s with movie podcast Happy Sad Confused, Tarantino told MTV’s Josh Horowitz that he had previously reached out to none other than Tom Cruise about the role of stuntman Cliff Booth, which ultimately went to Pitt.
“We talked about it,” Tarantino said of Cruise. “He’s a great guy, and we really hit it off.”
And while Dicaprio and Pitt’s on-screen collaboration is garnering rave reviews – Pitt’s character does stunt work for DiCaprio’s Rick Dalton, a former TV cowboy who lives next door to Sharon Tate – the Pulp Fiction director insists there’s still a chance he could work with Cruise.
“It could happen on something else.” On one hand, it’s practically preordained in Hollywood now that elder male movie stars get a midlife victory lap: Hi, Mickey Rourke, Michael Keaton, and Val Kilmer.”
