Last week when photos of Jennifer Garner and Bradley Cooper making sandcastles on Malibu beach with his daughter, who he shares with ex Irina Shayk, Lea De Seine Shayk Cooper, made their way online we quickly filed the two under ‘Celebrity Couples We Had No Idea We Needed.’ But, while we were excited about the prospective new Hollywood power couple, a source has clarified that the two are, in fact, just friends.
“[Cooper and Garner] are friends and have been forever,” that source told Page Six, adding there is “no truth to anything else.”
The photos came after Garner reportedly ended things with her boyfriend of two years, John Miller, before quarantine started. Meanwhile, Cooper hasn’t been romantically linked to anyone since his 2019 split from Shayk.
“They split up before L.A. went into lockdown,” said a source to InTouch Weekly. “Jen and John remain on friendly terms, so there’s a possibility that they could rekindle their relationship in the future, but right now, it’s over.
It’s not entirely shocking that Cooper and Garner decided to hang out, with the pair being openly vocal about their friendship in the past.
In 2018, Garner talked about how she was one of Cooper’s first friends in Hollywood when she honoured him at the American Cinematheque Awards.
“I took him home and made him dinner…I’m still making him dinner,” she said, adding “There is something about people who are the same in success and failure that makes us love them. Tells us, we know the very heart of them. I know the heart and stomach of Bradley Cooper. Bradley, what’s happening to you now is a pure joy to those who know you, especially to those of us who’ve known you from the start. It turns out you weren’t just handsome all along. You were also a wonder, and you are welcome at my table anytime.”
Plus, the two starred in drama series Alias together, so maybe it was just a catch-up between old friends.
Whatever the case, we’re still making a bid for these two to make it official.
