If Bran Stark Has Nothing To Do With How ‘Game of Thrones’ Ends I’ll Be Fuming

Like really, really fuming

Game of Thrones has been keeping us captivated for close to a decade, and since its first episode, we were enthralled in the lives of the Westorosi people. In particular, Bran Stark who began as the young Lord who got pushed out of a window after catching Jamie and Cersei Lannister in a moment to the three-eyed raven that presumably held the key to all the Seven Kingdoms questions. Yet, Bran is yet to play a pivotal role in, well…anything.

Yes, he lured the Night King into Winterfell that lead to his death at the hands of Arya Stark. But the reason behind why he travelled beyond the wall, killing his trusted helpers Hodor and Jojen, not to mention never thanking Meera despite her losing her brother, is still yet to be revealed. And considering how GoT’s penultimate episode finished, it doesn’t look like we’ll be getting the answers we want. That makes me very, very mad.

What doesn’t help the situation is that the series showrunners, D.B. Weiss and David Benioff, once proclaimed they admired the ending of The Sopranos, which if you don’t recall cuts to black with absolutely no closure at all. We can only speculate for now, so that’s what we’re going to do. Continue reading on for all the internet’s theories about how Bran Stark could be involved in how the series ends.

WARNING: The below theories could potentially contain spoilers for the Game of Thrones ending.

Bran Was The White Horse That Came To Arya

In the final seconds of GoT’s penultimate episode ‘The Bells’, Arya awakes among the rubble and ashes of the King’s Landing to discover a white horse. The most popular theory to emerge following the appearance of that horse is that Bran warged himself to King’s Landing in the guise of the horse to save his sister. However, we’ve never been given reason to believe Bran could warg into anything other than the raven, so this theory doesn’t hold up. AVanity Fair‘s Joanna Robinson put it, “Bran is not: the Night King, the voice in Aerys’s ear, or THAT WHITE HORSE AT THE END. Get a grip, people.” In this case, a horse may just be a horse.

Bran Stark Will Begin The Predict The World Cycle Over Again

A popular Reddit theory which has emerged claims that Bran Stark simply understood that the world’s cycle would continue again. Here’s what this fan thinks will go down: “Dany accuses Bran Stark, Samwell Tarly, and Sansa Stark of treason, forcing Jon Snow to reluctantly proclaim himself Aegon Targaryen and the real heir to the throne. He’d then have to kill Dany and Drogon himself before relinquishing the throne to characters like Sansa, Tyrion, Gendry, etc.”

“The final note of the series would be Jon reuniting with Ghost at the Wall while Bran uses magic to rebuild the hole in the Wall. Then as Jon searches for Tormund even farther north, he finds dismembered wildling bodies arranged in the White Walker spiral.”

Basically, after eight seasons of non-stop fighting and fear, Jon will realise the cycle begins again. However, the above theory did have inaccurate predictions for season 8, episode 5, so who knows if it holds any weight now.

Bran Stark Turns Into The Night King

Another theory that continually makes the rounds online is that Bran Stark turns into the Night King. However, it’s an unlikely scenario. The theory coined by a Reddit user writes, “Scene is zoomed in to the pedestal of the Throne. It’s coming slowly up. We see the royal robe, and then we see the face of Bran Stark. His eyes are white, he is a warning. It lasts for seconds. He shuts his eyes. When he opens them, they are BLUE.”

All we know is, the ending is going to leave us with lots of emotions.
