The man who murdered schoolboy Daniel Morcombe has been savagely attacked in prison - with his injuries requiring a trip to hospital.
Brett Peter Cowan was reportedly scalded with boiling water by a fellow prisoner. An ambulance evacuated the killer this morning, taking him to Royal Brisbane Hospital for treatment.
"About 9.15am, correctional officers discovered that the 46-year-old male prisoner was injured and immediately contacted the Queensland Ambulance Service," a prison spokesperson said in a statement.
