Here’s What The British Royal Family Get Each Other For Christmas

It's not what you'd suspect

Whether they have everything or are just picky, we all have that one friend who is difficult to buy presents for! Then there is the Royal Family. With their opulent lifestyles and general access to everything and anything, it’s hard to imagine what they would want for Christmas, let alone the daunting task of trying to buy for them. In the lead up to her first royal Christmas, Kate Middleton remarked that she was “worried what to give the Queen.” We don’t blame you, Kate.

However, according to numerous sources over the years, the British royal family are in the habit of gifting each other joke gifts. Could we love them anymore?! On top of their traditional black-tie dinner and Christmas day church service, the Royals have always held this quirky and unconventional tradition.

In 2013, Prince Harry reportedly gifted the Queen a shower cap that read “Ain’t life a bitch”, which according to royal biographer Brain Hoey, she absolutely loved.

Quick on the uptake, newcomer Meghan Markle gave the queen a singing hamster last Christmas which the British tabloids reported left her Majesty in hysterics.

Other notable entries into the royal gag gift tradition have been: a “grow your own girlfriend kit” from Kate to Harry (pre-Meghan) and a leather toilet seat gifted to Prince Charles from Princess Anne.
