Cameron Diaz and Benji Madden took to Instagram in early January to reveal they had welcomed their first child, a daughter named Raddix.
The couple announced the news on Instagram, explaining that while they are overjoyed, they intend to keep their little girl’s life as private and out of the spotlight as possible.
According to The Blast (via People), Raddix’s birth certificate reveals that her full name is Raddix Chloe Wildflower Madden. Per the outlet, Diaz and Madden reportedly welcomed their first child on December 30, 2019, at Cedar’s Sinai Medical Centre in Los Angeles.
The sweet name has a tribute to one of Diaz’s close friends, and Charlie’s Angels costar Drew Barrymore. Wildflower is the title of Barrymore’s autobiography, while her makeup like is called Flower Beauty.
Announcing their daughter’s birth on Instagram, the couple shared in a joint statement: “Happy New Year from the Maddens! We are so happy, blessed and grateful to begin this new decade by announcing the birth of our daughter, Raddix Madden. She has instantly captured our hearts and completed our family.”
They added, “While we are overjoyed to share this news, we also feel a strong inclination to protect our little one’s privacy. So we won’t be posting pictures or sharing any more details, other than the fact she is really, really cute!! Some would even say RAD.”
The couple wed in 2015, with Diaz opening up to InStyle years later about their marriage.
“Getting married to him was the best thing that ever happened to me,” she said. “My husband’s the best. He’s the greatest human being, and he’s my great partner. Marriage is certainly hard, and it’s a lot of work. You need somebody who’s willing to do the work with you, because there’s no 60-40 in marriage. It’s 50-50, period. All the time. I don’t know if I was ready [when I got married], but I knew Benji was special. He’s just a good man. There’s no bullshit. It’s really refreshing. I’m really grateful for him.”
