Candice Warner Reveals Tragic Miscarriage In Wake Of Australian Cricket Scandal

This is heartbreaking

Candice Warner has opened up about her heartbreaking miscarriage in the wake of her husband David Warner’s ball-tampering scandal.

Mrs Warner revealed she suffered a miscarriage just one week after her husband, the Australian cricket vice-captain, gave an emotional press conference and apology.

“I’d have to be bullet-proof for the taunting not to have affected me,” she told Woman’s Day in an exclusive interview.

“It rocked my very foundation and I paid the ultimate price, losing our baby. I wonder how all those who came after me feel now?”

Back in Sydney after the ball-tampering episode, the pair faced intense media pressure and backlash. Mr Warner was banned by Cricket Australia for 12 months and stood down as vice captain for his role in the scandal, and gave a tearful public apology.

“I am extremely sorry and I really, really regret it. It’s a decision that will stick with me for the rest of my life,” he told reporters, The Australian reports.

A week later, Mrs Warner said they lost lost their baby.

“I called Dave to the bathroom and told him I was bleeding,” she recounted. “We knew I was miscarrying. We held one another and cried.”

“The miscarriage was a heartbreaking end to a horror tour. The ordeal from the public humiliations to the ball tapering had taken its toll and, from that moment, we decided nothing will impact our lives like that again
