16 Budget Beauty Buys Celebrities Swear By

Looking like an A-lister needn't cost the earth, just ask these stars...

Kristen Bell

Rather than spend a small fortune on luxury perfume, Kristen Bell reveals she wears Nemat’s Amber Oil to red carpet events, InStyle reports. “I’m wearing an amber oil; I get it from Whole Foods, a little bottle that says ‘amber’ on it. Four bucks, go for it,” the star told Guiliana Rancic during Live From The Red Carpet.

Natalie Portman

Natalie Portman never goes to bed without taking her make-up off, and she swears by French pharmacy fave Bioderma Sensibio Micellar Water to do it. Speaking to Harper’s Bazaar US, the actress revealed she follows the budget beauty buy with a rather more expensive Joëlle Ciocco cleanser.

Margot Robbie

Margot Robbie is all about natural beauty when she’s away from the red carpet, and that’s why she loves slapping on a little lip balm. “I don’t like wearing lipstick because I get it all over my face,” she recently told a US magazine. “So I wear lip balm with a bit of a stain, like Burt’s Bees.”

Nicole Richie

You probably already own a tube or 10 of Nicole Richie’s favourite wallet-friendly beauty buy: Lucas Paw Paw Ointment. Speaking to W Magazine, Richie credited Paw Paw as the most under-rated beauty product out there, revealing she never travels without it.

Amanda Seyfried

Amanda Seyfried’s budget beauty hack is a blessing for anyone feeling stressed or sleep-deprived (that’s everyone then). “Lavender oil is supposed to be calming, so I’ll dab a tiny bit under my nose before I go to sleep,” the star told marie claire US. The best bit? You can pick a bottle up for as little as $7.

Cindy Crawford

She might be one of the original supermodels, but when it comes to makeup, less is more says Cindy Crawford. “What I try to teach my daughter is that less is more. You look great—not your makeup,” she tells a US magazine. And how does she achieve said natural look? She loves Josie Maran Argan Colour Stick, $33, to give her a natural-looking blush.

Rachael Finch

Aussie beauty Rachael Finch loves ‘Define’ mascara by Colour Theory, $8, who tells Beauticate, “I curl my lashes and apply the ‘Define’ mascara by Colour Theory – they’re made in Italy and have a great consistency.”

Khloe Kardashian

Khloe Kardashian swears by Makeup Revolution Vivid Baked Highlighter and took to her website to sing its praises, “These cheekbones with a $6 highlighter?! Only @jOYCEBONELLi could do it!!!”. While this exact highlighter isn’t available in Australia just yet, we love NYX Illuminator, $17.95

Jennifer Aniston

Jennifer Aniston swears by Aveeno Daily Moisturising Lotion so much that she’s the face of the brand. “I’ve been using [it] for years and years and I just love [it]. I send it to everyone I know – like my manicurists who love it for massage and for feet – it’s absolutely fabulous. It’s so hydrating and helps my skin feel soft all day. Sometimes I use a lotion and my skin ends up feeling dry in an hours’ time.”

Gigi Hadid

Gigi Hadid is the face of Maybelline and she can’t get enough of the brand’s Fit Me Foundation ($19.95). “It’s just really good, and they have two kinds,” she tells Byrdie. “In the day, I use the one that is a little more dewy, and then at night, I’ll use the matte one, because it’s better for when pictures are being taken.”

Eva Mendes

While no doubt her good genes play some part in that fabulous complexion, Eva Mendes also swears by Queen Helene face masks which retail for just $5. “You know Queen Helene — those face masks? Those are amazing drugstore buys,” she tells Refinery29. “You know, when I am shooting in the middle of nowhere you can always find a drugstore, and those are great to get.”

Kim Kardashian

Kim Kardashian might spend two-hours getting ready she keeps it simple when it comes to taking it all off. The star says she is “obsessed” with these $11.50 (approx) Kiko exfoliating face wipes.

Taylor Swift

We all know Taylor loves a red lip. “I feel more confident when I have a red lip on,” she recently told InStyle. “Right now I’m using Aqua Rouge No. 8 by Make Up For Ever, ($42). It has two sides to it—one is a gloss, and one side is a lip stain.”

Emma Stone

Emma Stone suffers from allergies and keeps it simple when it comes to her skincare. “I’m really allergic to a lot of stuff, so I can really only use products with one thing in them,” she told StyleCaster. “So I use Burt’s Bees cleanser, ($19.95) and sometimes I exfoliate with baking soda or brown sugar.”

Olivia Wilde

Olivia Wilde is all about staying power when it comes to her lippy. “My favourite red lip that I’ve done was with Revlon ColorStay Ultimate Suede Lipstick ($26.95),” she tells Body and Soul. “I love this product because it’s really moisturising, which is great because there’s nothing worse than dry, cracked lipstick. And it doesn’t move; my biggest nightmare when I wear red lipstick is that it’s going to end up all over my face.”

Nicole Kidman

Nicole Kidman knows the power of a multi-tasking beauty product! “I’m a mum, so I don’t have a lot of room in my bag, but I always try to have an all-in-one product,” she tells Allure. “I use Benefit Benetint ($55) on my lips and cheeks.”
