All The Times Celebrities Have Shown Off Their Baby Bumps In Music Videos

From Chrissy Teigen to Katy Perry

For many couples, one of the most magical moments of a pregnancy journey is the day you get to tell your friends and family. But when you’re one of the biggest names in the world, that pool of who you need to inform grows significantly – think, in the millions.

Celebrities, on top of telling their loved ones, have to go about sharing the exciting news with the world. And while some choose to keep things under wraps, others choose to treat their fans with creative ways of displaying their growing baby bumps.

One of those said creative ways comes in the form of music videos. For years, celebrities have held off telling the world about their new arrival until it coincides with the release of a new single or album, because why not?

Below, all the celebrities who have revealed their pregnancy news via a music video.

Chrissy Teigen and John Legend

Vevo’s official Twitter account teased the music video for John Legend’s new single, ‘Wild’, hinting it had a “beautiful surprise” in it. Teigen retweeted the post but added no commentary at the time about what the surprise was, but in the video, which dropped August 13, the model can be seen cradling her stomach.

The couple already shares daughter Luna, 4, and son Miles, 2.

Katy Perry

Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom announced they were expecting their first child together through her new music video for ‘Never Worn White’, where she is dressed in a sheer white dress gently holding her growing bump.

During an Instagram Live after the music video premiered on YouTube, Perry confirmed her pregnancy, saying it is “probably the longest secret” she has “ever had to keep.”

The new bub will be Perry’s first, while Bloom already fathers 9-year-old Flynn with ex-wife Miranda Kerr.

Cardi B

The rapper revealed that she was expecting her first child with husband, Migos rapper Offset, while performing live on Saturday Night Live in 2018. The couple welcomed their daughter, Kulture Kiari in July of that year.

Beyoncé

While Beyoncé technically announced her pregnancy while performing at the 2011 MTV Video Music Awards, she included her bump in the music video for ‘Countdown’, pointing to her stomach while singing “I’m tryna make us three from that two.”

The singer gave birth to her first child with husband Jay-Z, baby girl Blue Ivy Carter, in 2012. The couple welcomed twins, Rumi and Sir, in 2017.

Nicki Minaj

Nicki Minaj took to Instagram to promote her latest single ‘Move Ya Hips’, her recent collaboration with A$AP Ferg and MadeinTYO, and it included a special surprise. The rapper announced that she and husband Kenneth Petty were expecting their first child together, alongside a set of glam photos baring her baby bump.

Natalie Portman

When the Oscar Award-winning actress was just days away from welcoming her second child, daughter Amalia, she appeared in James Blake’s music video for ‘My Willing Heart’. Portman’s son Aleph also made an appearance in the video.

Pink

Ciara

Just two days before giving birth, Ciara filmed the music for her song ‘Rooted.’ “It was an incredible challenge doing that,” she told Entertainment Tonight. “I just felt like it was something deeper for me with this record; the meaning of the song, knowing where I was in my life, carrying a child, getting ready to bring a new seed to life. Everything that we need is rooted in us, and I really believe that. So I just felt empowered through it all.”
