Alexa Chung’s Favourite Skincare Brand Just Launched A New Cleanser

She credits the brand’s moisturiser with “saving her face”

It’s hard to believe that Alexa Chung suffers from skin issues just like the rest of us, but the Next In Fashion host recently opened up about her experience with adult acne.

“I have had quite good skin forever,” she said. “Then suddenly, at 36, it all went a bit haywire.”

After consulting her long-time makeup artist Florrie White (the makeup artist behind the glowy complexions of Poppy Delevingne, Rosie Huntington-Whitely and Felicity Jones), Chung began using cult skincare brand CeraVe and credits the brand’s Facial Moisturising Lotion with “saving her face”.

Now, the brand has launched a new salicylic acid-infused cleanser that’s designed to exfoliate rough, bumpy skin and we were first in line to try it.

Developed with dermatologists, the CeraVe SA Smoothing Cleanser has a unique formula that promises to moisturise and hydrate the skin while strengthening the skin’s natural barrier through the addition of CeraVe’s three essential ceramides a skincare win, win.

CeraVe SA Smoothing Cleanser

Unless exfoliated, dead skin cells build up and create dry patches. CeraVe’s cleanser aims to slough away dead skin cells and improve skin texture at the same time.

Free of physical exfoliants and microbeads, the innovative formula combines a unique blend of salicylic acid, ceramides, hyaluronic acid and MVE technology, a patented oil-in-water emulsion system that slowly releases key ingredients into the skin to provide 24 hour hydration.

A hard-working exfoliator, salicylic acid is made up of keratolytic and comedolytic properties that loosen and break apart keratin cells in the outer layers of the skin to enable skin to renew and regenerate from below. As a BHA salicylic acid can penetrate deeper into pores than AHAs, allowing for a deeper cleanse and more effective removal of built up residue.

If you suffer from dry skin, you may have lower levels of ceramides (the lipids found naturally in the outer layer of the skin). CeraVe SA Smoothing Cleanser, along with all CeraVe products, is made with ceramides 1, 3, 6-II to help replenish skin lipids, prevent further moisture loss and help to maintain a strong, healthy, protective skin barrier. Further bolstering the skin’s hydration levels, hyaluronic acid serves to draw in and retain water to keep the skin plump and moist.

Helping you to complete your skincare routine, CeraVe is set to release a SA Smoothing Cream in August. Also developed with dermatologists, the smoothing cream targets dry and rough skin on the body. Additionally the CeraVe SA Smoothing Cream contains Urea which helps to soothe and soften the skin.

It’s not only Alexa Chung’s skin that has us excited for CeraVe’s new additions; the SA Smoothing Cleanser has only just launched and is already generating impressive reviews.

Whether you suffer from sensitive, dry or normal skin, CeraVe’s SA Smoothing Cleanser promises to supercharge complexions with its ultra-hydrating, science-backed formula. The perfect post-iso glow-up, no?
