Chanel‘s yearly Métiers d’Art, or Pre-Fall, show returned to the Grand Palais in Paris and like the years before it, was a true spectacle of craftmanship. The shows started in 2002, an initiative by the late Karl Lagerfeld, and this year was the first collection designed entirely by new creative director Virginie Viard. Full of 80’s references in silhouette and colour palette, as well as the strong-shouldered suiting, gold accents and classic tweeds the house is known for, the collection was intrinsically Chanel, with a Viard twist.
