Nothing makes us feel more chic than a bold lip. CHANEL makeup artist Victoria Baron demonstrates three ways to update your favourite lip look.

Casual chic

There is nothing cooler than a bold red lip worn with a bit of laid-back edge. “Blot your lips between coats to keep the colour strong,” advises Victoria Baron, official make-up artist for CHANEL

Perfect for a night out with friends, this look depends on flawless skin with just a touch of colour. “Apply a dusty-pink cream blush to the apples of your cheeks,” advises Baron, who also applied a gold illuminating powder from Chanel’s new Maximalisme de Chanel collection to the high points of the face. Add undone hair and a crimson manicure and you’re good to go.

Daytime sophistication

Luminous skin and a poppy matt-orange lip keep this look stylishly understated. To create skin that glows, Baron likes to prep with a nourishing serum and moisturiser then “Spray the skin with CHANEL Hydra Beauty Essence Mist”. To even out the complexion yet keep the coverage sheer, Baron advises forgoing foundation for a combination of tinted moisturiser and concealer. For a perfectly matt pout, she suggests using a lip pencil to “lightly shape and outline the lips” before applying two coats (blotting between) of orange-red lipstick with a lip brush. Baron used the coral tone in the CHANEL La Palette Caractere

Lips that look deliciously juicy are a great way to add instant polish, says Baron, who custom-blended lipstick shades to create her perfect raspberry tone (or try CHANEL Rouge Coco Ultra Hydrating Lip Colour in Etinne).

A good trick to keep the effect stylishly casual is to ditch any hard lip lines and “blur the edges slightly”, advises Baron. Deceptively minimal,
all you need now is eyeliner and mascara. “Line the inner and outer waterlines using a waterproof liner in black,” says Baron. “Then finish by curling the lashes and adding black mascara.”
