In November 2021, Chris Pratt made headlines for all the wrong reasons when he posted an Instagram about his wife, Katherine Schwarzenegger. While it seemed innocent enough, the internet was quick to read between the lines, assuming that the actor meant something different entirely.
In the post, he wrote:
“Guys. For real. Look how she’s looking at me! I mean. Find you somebody that looks at you like that!! You know!? We met in church. She’s given me an amazing life, a gorgeous healthy daughter..”
The comment which struck a nerve, was labelling his daughter as ‘healthy.’ Pratt was slammed with criticism, as his first born son Jack, whom he had with ex-wife Anna Faris, was born prematurely and has subsequent health issues including some vision problems.
Appearing as the recent cover star for Men’s Health, Pratt finally addressed the controversy, revealing that he was incredibly upset by the allegations.
“A bunch of articles came out and said ‘that’s so cringeworthy. I can’t believe Chris Pratt would thank her for a healthy daughter when his first child was born premature. That’s such a dig at his ex-wife,” Pratt recalled.
“That is f**ked up,” he said. “My son’s gonna read that one day. He’s 9. And it’s etched in digital stone. It really f**king bothered me, dude. I cried about it.”
He then went on to say that he feels as though his fame is a burden to the people he loves most, considering how much of his life is under constant scrutiny.
“I was like, I hate that these blessings in my life are—to the people close to me—a real burden.”
The Marvel star was married to Faris from 2009 to 2018, welcoming Jack in 2012. The actress gave birth seven weeks before her due date, with the baby spending one month in the NICU before heading home.
“The first years were filled with doctor’s appointments, five surgeries, physical therapy, a lot of laughter,” Faris told People in 2017. “Jack was and is the most adorable cutest thing I could ever have imagined.”
Pratt married Arnold Schwarzenegger’s daughter in June 2019 and the couple welcomed daughter Lyla in August 2020. Most recently, they announced the arrival of their second daughter, Eloise Christina Schwarzenegger Pratt, in May.
Faris has also moved on, secretly eloping with her third husband, cinematographer Michael Barrett, during the pandemic.
