Chrissy Teigen has deleted 60,000 tweets as a result of online harassment and fear for the safety of her family.
Speaking out against the bullying being levelled at her, the model and mother-of-two explained why she chose to remove such the tweets from her page.
Essentially, there’s a group of people who are circulating baseless conspiracy theories claiming that Teigen, and her husband John Legend, have a connection to Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell, who is presently awaiting trial for her alleged involvement in Epstein’s sex trafficking ring.
Despite a total lack of evidence, there are some claiming that Teigen appeared on one of Epstein’s flight logs to the island where he allegedly trafficked young women.
“I actually deleted 60,000 tweets because I cannot fucking STAND you idiots anymore and I’m worried for my family. Finding me talking about toddlers and tiaras in 2013 and thinking you’re some sort of fucking operative,” Teigen replied to one person making such allegations.
“If Twitter doesn’t do something about this actually scary harassment, I am gonna have to go,” she wrote on July 14, having since made her Twitter account private.
“I have block chained over one million people, ONE MILLION people today, and I am still flooded with sick psychopaths. So please, spare me the ‘Just ignore them, they’re just trolls’,” she continued in a Twitter thread.
“Anyhow, I’ll do my best to stop entertaining them. They have definitely been living for this and have zeroed in on ONLY me. Thank u to EVERYONE for helping me, in and out of the dm’s. People I’ve never met have been so, so kind and huge thank you to @yashar especially.”
Yashar, who Teigen referred to in her tweet, is journalist Yashar Ali, who shed some compassionate light on what Teigen has been dealing with “for three years” in series of tweets of his own.
“Chrissy is so fortunate and she knows what she’s signed up for, but no one should have to go through this,” he began.
“For three years QaNon followers have been viciously attacking her and I haven’t said anything publicly but as her friend I can’t stand to see it anymore.
“No amount of fame or money insulates someone from this insanity and how deeply hurtful it is especially since she’s a parent. And no amount of fame or money should mean that she deserves it or should just put up with it.”
“For years these people have been doing things like posting FAKE versions of Jeffery Epstein’s flight logs saying that Chrissy was a passenger. None of these folks seem to be able to do math, she was a minor when they’re accusing her of being a paedophile with Epstein,” he continued in a later tweet.
Twitter has yet to respond publicly to Teigen’s call for action.
