Cindy Crawford Defends Herself Against Mum-Shamers

"In some ways, I wish I could have pushed it off a year or two"

In today’s edition of famous mothers having to defend their parenting decisions: Cindy Crawford has spoken out about letting her 16-year-old daughter, Kaia Gerber, model.

Kaia burst into the fashion scene last month walking some of the world’s biggest shows in first runway season and cementing that she plans on following in her supermodel mum’s footsteps.

Though Kaia is only 16, Cindy says that she is more concerned about letting her teenager drive a car than model.

“My daughter just got a driver’s licence,” Cindy told Associated Press. “I’m a lot more concerned about her driving by herself then entering the world of modelling.”

“The great thing for my kids is that I know a lot about that world,” she continued. “I feel like: Who better to help guide them than me?”

Cindy added that though some would think 16 is young to be thrust into the spotlight, it’s normal for fashion.

“In some ways, I wish I could have pushed it off a year or two. But she’s 16. That’s how old I was when I started, which is young, but in fashion that’s kind of the normal age when people start.”
