Court Hears Explosive Secret Recording Of Warriena Wright’s Final Hours

The woman fell 14 storeys to her death after a Tinder date

Gable Tostee is currently on trial for the murder of New Zealand Tourist Warriena Wright after the pair met on Tinder.

Wright, 26, plunged to her death off the balcony of Tostee’s 14th story Surfer’s Paradise apartment on August 8, 2014.

The court has heard an explosive secret recording between the pair, revealing that Wright was drunk, at times incomprehensible and repeatedly violent towards Tostee, 30.

The recording, which was taken off Tostee’s phone, runs for three hours and hears the pair drinking and talking with music playing in the background. The music later stops and Wright can be heard looking for her belongings as she tries to leave.

When she cannot find her phone, Wright threatens to call police and yells: “I will f***ing destroy your jaw. It’s not f***ing funny,” reports ABC

When Tostee says: “I didn’t say you have to leave, I just said stop beating me up.”

“I don’t deserve this s*** alright. I’m a nice f***ing guy … calm down, please,” he says. “You were beating me up for no reason. You thought it was funny. It’s not. You meet some weird people off Tinder.”

The prosecution argued that in the recording Tostee clearly becomes more agitated, while Wright sounds fearful and paniced.

Prosecutor Glen Cash argued that Tostee could be heard trying to choke Wright before locking her on the balcony.

News.com.au reports that a neighbor testified to being woken by a loud sound of furniture being thrown around the apartment as well as hearing a woman crying “No, no, no”.

She then told the court that she opened her balcony door to see a woman’s legs dangling before seeing the woman fall to her death.

Another section of the recording hears Tostee tell Wright she is much drunker than him, and that he must catch up.

“I’m totally flattered my vodka has done this to you,” he says to her. “You’re kind of mental but really cute in a way.”

“You’re so much drunker than me, I need to catch up,” he adds.

Tostee has pleaded not guilty to the murder charges. The trial will resume today.
