Turns Out, Courteney Cox Says She Doesn’t Even Remember Filming As Monica In ‘Friends’

Awkward.

When it comes to Friends, it’s almost impossible to forget the famous faces that made up its lead cast. But for one of the main members, well, they’re finding it hard to remember their time on set.

Courteney Cox, who played meticulously organised chef Monica Geller on the cult TV series, explained that she struggled to answer questions in the popular reunion show that aired last year.

“I should’ve watched all 10 seasons,” she admitted on TODAY. “Because when I did the reunion and was asked questions, I was like, ‘I don’t remember being there.’ I don’t remember filming so many episodes.”

As for why she doesn’t remember, it had nothing to do with any ill feelings toward her fellow cast mates or time on set, but more that her memory simply isn’t as sharp as it used to be.

“I’m kinda bummed that we didn’t spend more time taking pictures,” she admitted, adding, “because I don’t have a lot to look back at.”

“I see it on TV sometimes, and I stop and go, ‘Oh, my God, I don’t remember this at all. But it’s so funny.”

For the unfamiliar, Cox joined the rest of the Friends cast—including Jennifer Aniston, Lisa Kudrow, Matthew Perry, David Schwimmer and Matt LeBlanc—for a TV special where they reminisced over the famous sitcom for the first time, since it ended in 2004.

Naturally, looking back at their time together came with some sadness, at least for Aniston.

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, she revealed that she had to remove herself from the reunion several times because she was overcome with emotions. And in a separate interview with E! News, she explained that at one point, they were all crying non-stop.

“It was unbelievable. It was so emotional. It’s an unscripted reunion, but we got to be on Stage 24 for the first time, all of us in, like, I forgot how many years. 15 years? 17 years?,” Cox said while on The Ellen DeGeneres Show.

Bringing up her memory issues once again, she reiterated to DeGeneres that her memory fails her, and she struggled to remember the famous scenes replayed on the reunion.

“Oh, God, I have the worst memory. Everything came up that I forgot about,” she said.

And she’s not the only cast member who struggled to remember what took place on screen. Perry, who struggled with addiction while filming the show, also admitted that it left him he’s missing years of his life, including his time on the sitcom.

“I don’t remember three years of it. So none of those… Somewhere between Season 3 and 6… I was a little out of it.”

While the cast of Friends might not remember filming before legions of viewers, millions of fans around the world will never forget—and will never stop reminding them of that.
