‘Crazy Rich Asians’ Author’s New Book Is Officially Being Adapted Into A Film

Kevin Kwan's 'Sex and Vanity' is set to hit the big screen

It looks like another one of Kevin Kwan’s iconic novels is headed to Hollywood. The newly released novel, Sex and Vanity, has been acquired by Sony Pictures and SK Global Entertainment, only one week after the book went on sale, according to Variety.

Written by the same author as the astronomically successful Crazy Rich Asians, this novel exists in a different universe, yet still houses Kwan’s love of luxury and representation of his Asian heritage.

Said to pay homage to E.M. Forster’s 1908 novel A Room With A View, Sex and Vanity follows protagonist Lucie Tang Churchill, who finds herself in the centre of a love triangle between her charming fiancé George Zao, and her former fling whom she met on a vacation in Capri years before.

“Soon, Lucie is spinning a web of deceit that involves her family, her fiancé, the co-op board of her Fifth Avenue apartment building, and ultimately herself as she tries mightily to deny George entry into her world—and her heart,” the book’s synopsis states.

Including an Italian adventure, an extravagant wedding, a luxury hotel and incredibly rich characters, Sex and Vanity looks to feature the same magnificence as Crazy Rich Asians did on-screen in 2018.

For now, the release date for the film is not known, but with the Crazy Rich Asians sequel still in the works, we’ve got much more cinematic magic from Kevin Kwan to look forward to.
