Crowded House are reuniting to play two shows at the Sydney Opera House forecourt, the exact spot the band bid farewell 1996.

The Australian/New Zealand group played their iconic final concert to over 100,000 fans on the steps of the Sydney Opera House twenty years ago.

Band members Neil Finn, Nick Seymour, Mark Hart and Matt Sherrod will hit the stage for the anniversary concerts (November 25 and 26) the same week Crowded House are being inducted into the ARIA Hall of Fame, 30 years after the release of their self-titled debut album.

“Calling it an Encore, it’s nice way to think of it. We could have gone off and done a whole world tour — there have been offers — but it doesn’t feel the right thing to do right now so we’ll put our heart and soul into these shows,” original member Neil Finn told news.com.au.

Original drummer Paul Hester, who passed away in 2005, will be on everyones minds on the night. Finn said Paul would be “in everybody’s mind from the beginning to the end of the experience.”

“We remember him fondly; we owe him a lot and there’s something unresolved about it,” he told news.com.au.

“That means we will have double the reason to make it a soulful experience, to give it our best.”

Tickets for Crowded House Encore go on sale September 26 at 10am.
