The family of Tasmin Bahar who was tragically murdered by her estranged husband, Dave Pillay, are desperate to take custody of the three-year-old daughter left behind.

The 35-year-old’s sister and mother are reported to be flying in from New York and Bangladesh respectively, and are said to be upset that the child is currently being cared for by a member of Pillay’s family.

Police say the child is in “safe” hands.

Bahar’s sister, Sharagin Bahar, is reportedly determined to adopt the child, whom she describes as “the last symbol of Tasmin”.

“We don’t want our little angel being looked after by that murderer’s family,” cousin Dorin Hussain tells The Daily Telegraph.

“He took Tasmin from us … and now his family has got … (the child), how is that right? Tasmin’s sister and mother want to get custody of (the child) sooner rather than later.”

News Corp reports that police sources say Pillay strangled his wife before hanging himself.

Police found the bodies of the couple at the home they once shared on after Pillay reportedly begged Bahar to bring their daughter to see him for Father’s Day.

Their daughter was found sleeping in her room just metres away.
