What’s better than hitting add to cart on a Black Friday bargain? Only nabbing an even better deal on Cyber Monday.
The major annual sale takes place three days after the infamous Friday sale event (more on that here), but there’s a small difference. Where Black Friday was traditionally a time to line up outside department stores before sprinting to the racks to swipe discounted goods, Cyber Monday was all about the online shopping experience.
But in these not-so-unprecedented times, we’ve grown quite accustomed to the humble art of clicking, rather than physically collecting.
In fact, total online online retail sales surged by 67.1 per cent between March and October 2020 compared to the same period in 2019 per ABS statistics—an increase largely due to the COVID-19 pandemic lockdowns.
And despite the fact we’ve now emerged from lockdown as Australia’s vaccination rate steadily climbs, we’ve no doubt grown accustomed to doing our shopping from the comfort of home. Thus, Cyber Monday is just as relevant as Black Friday when it comes to ticking off our wishlists.
