PSA: The Dirty John Podcast Is Being Made Into A True Crime Series

Starring the incredible Connie Britton

Chances are you’ve stumbled across this story for one of two reasons:

1. You’re a die-hard fan of true crime podcasts (and count Dirty John as one of your favourites of 2017).

2. You love the talented and amazing Connie Britton (talk about #hairgoals).

And, if you’re obsessed with both of these things, we have the ultimate cross-over for you.

As Deadline Hollywood reports, a new true-crime scripted anthology series named Dirty John is now in the works at Bravo and will star Nashville’s Britton.

The first season will tell the story of 59-year-old Debra Newell (Britton), a successful interior designer and single mum looking for love. On a dating site, Debra meets John Meehan, a ridiculously smart and buff six foot two bachelor. Their connection is instant. But Debra soon discovers that John has a dark past—that has left many other women devastated.

The series will be based on Los Angeles Times reporter Chris Goffard’s news stories and his wildly popular podcast. As The Hollywood Reporter notes, Dirty John will be written by Alexandra Cunningham (Desperate Housewives, Chance).

While there is no news yet on who will play John, if the casting is just as spot on as Britton playing Debra, Bravo will be onto a winner.
