The announcement was in response to Gordon Sondland’s, (United States Ambassador to the European Union), bombshell testimony during his impeachment hearing, where he stated that there was indeed a ‘quid pro quo’ between the United States and Ukraine.
“I know that members of this committee have frequently framed these complicated issues in the form of a simple question: Was there a ‘quid pro quo?’” the ambassador said.
“As I testified previously, with regard to the requested White House call and White House meeting, the answer is yes.”
Sondland continued by revealing that Trump’s personal lawyer, Rudy Giuliani, sought to condition an Oval Office meeting with Ukranian president, Volodymyr Zelenskiy, in exchange for politically motivated investigations of Trump’s rivals. His testimony is a break-through moment for the impeachment, providing serious evidence against the president.
As with most news out of and concerning the White House, social media has had an absolute field day with the president’s notes. This isn’t the first time Trump has been mocked for clutching a handwritten message. Last March, Trump was ridiculous online for a handwritten message reminding him to say “I hear you” while chatting with survivors of school shootings.
