Fans Reckon They’ve Spotted A Major Spoiler Ahead Of The ‘Downton Abbey’ Sequel

An innocent promotional image might've given it all away.

Warning: The following article contains potential spoilers for Downton Abbey: A New Era.

We politely ask you to look closely at the promotional photos from upcoming film Downton Abbey: A New Erabecause there’s a subtle golden nugget that might’ve just given away a major plot point.

Of course, you may want to keep things spoiler-free until the film is released on March 18, 2022, but if you’re anything like us, we can’t help but flock to any and every update about the fictional Crawley family and their various dalliances.

That said, the latest clue isn’t quite so much a dalliance as much as a sweet confirmation of a couple we’ve always rooted for—according to a sneaky prop seen in a promo image, shy kitchen maid Daisy appears to be married.

The sweet character has had rather unfortunate luck in love—she was a war widow when she was first introduced as an employee at the Crawley family estate, but then she met and fell and love with Andrew “Andy” Parker, who joined the show in the fifth season when he was hired as a temporary footman for Lady Rose’s wedding.

Their relationship blossomed, much to the delight of viewers, but the series’ end didn’t quite tie up whether they made things official.

Now, it appears we can sleep easy with the knowledge that they did get married because the aforementioned promo shot for the sequel film shows Daisy wearing a wedding band on her ring finger as she stands over a kitchen pot.

Of course, fans also pointed out the fact Daisy used to wear the silver wedding band she had for her first husband who was killed at war—but if you look really closely, as Downton fans obviously have, the ring in the new image is gold. Suspicious!

To add, another major spoiler sits in plain site on the film’s official promo poster. With an image of the Crawley estate, text overlay reads: “The Legacy Continues”.

Below it, the key characters in the film are named in full—and there it is, next to Andy Parker’s name is “Daisy Parker”.

Well, that settles it then!

The second film instalment to the hit television series is also set to uncover the fate of Violet Crawley, who revealed at the end of the first film that she had an illness that would likely end her life.

That said, the first look trailer released this week showed Violet alive and (apparently) well as she and the family take a trip to the  French Riviera after learning that the Dowager Countess herself had inherited a villa from one of her former lovers.

“Years ago, before you were born, I met a man,” Violet explains in the sneak peek.

“And now, I’ve come into the possession of a villa in the South of France.

Amid scenes of Lady Mary and Lady Edith looking chic as ever in matching, floral outfits, as well as a snapshot of the family attending the wedding of Tom Branson and Lucy Smith, the trailer ends with one final line from Violet.

“And with that, I will say goodnight and leave you to discuss my mysterious past.”

Bring on March 2022…
