Drew Barrymore’s Relatable Weight Loss Struggle Is All Of Us

"This is exactly how I feel on my diet right now!"

We’ve all been there. You’re on a diet and eating a healthy salad but then an intense craving for pizza (or ice-cream or chips) comes on. Find it hard to resist? Drew Barrymore can relate.

Earlier this week, the Santa Clarita Diet actress shared a hilarious photo of a pizza slice locked in an “IN CASE OF EMERGENCY, BREAK GLASS” box. She captioned it, “This is exactly how I feel on my diet right now!”. Same, Drew, same.

While there’s no doubt celebrities have easier access to a personal trainer, expensive classes or a fancy gym membership, they still struggle just like us when it comes to achieving fitness goals. Point in case, Barrymore has been refreshingly open about her health and fitness loss journey and all the difficulties that come with it.

The Flower Beauty founder revealed to James Corden in 2016 that she weighed 65 kgs when she first started filming Santa Clarita Diet and her life was “kind of falling apart”.

However, she turned it around and revealed back in December of last year that she lost 11 kgs in three months. The actress posted a before and after picture on Instagram (which has since been deleted) and said, “Here is me in a before pose and then 25 pounds later in the same place. You can tell my face is so much thinner! This takes so much work. Diet and exercise and fighting like a lion for it! Damn you genetics! And yet thank you for all the good stuff. I love where I come from (JOHN ETHEL LIONEL) and whatever package it comes in. I just know that I have the control to be what I want. Even if it is hard AF!”

She credited her trainer and Barre Belle founder Marnie Alton in the post for helping make her “goals a reality” through a rigorous exercise routine. “I mean look at what Marnie helped me do in three months!”.

Since her before-and-after reveal, the 43-year-old star has shared a video on Instagram of her sweating it out in a dance class at 305 Fitness. “@305fitness getting my New Year’s Eve dance on because I am too old to go clubbing,” she wrote alongside the post.

When it comes to her diet plan, Barrymore turns to celebrity nutritionist Kimberly Snyder. The actress expressed her appreciation for the wellness guru in another post earlier this week. “She is my guru and a genius,” she wrote. “She cured me naturally if [sic] so many ailments.”

Back in 2017, Barrymore told US Weekly that she followed Synder’s methods for her meal plans but still struggled with avoiding (you guessed it) pizza. “I’ve been very disciplined and all I did was cry and dream about pizza. I still am dreaming and crying about pizza.” #Feels.
