Later, Drew appeared on CBS Morning with Gayle King, where they touched on the subject further.
"My kids' dad is happily remarried with the most wonderful woman in the world [Alexandra Michler] — my children have this extraordinary stepmom," she said.
"And our processes have been different, and their side of the street is so functional and whole and happening, and I think I've been on the sidelines in a beautiful, honoring purgatory."
Drew has been single for the past years, following her divorce with Will Kopelman. She now admits that her decision to hold back from dating again has been less to do with herself, and more to do with her two daughters.
Her reservations aside, she's not closed off entirely to the idea of dating again. In fact, on the latest episode of The Drew Barrymore Show, the Queer Eye team get her prepped and ready for a Zoom date with Top Chef's Sam Talbot. You'll have to tune in to find out how it went, but Drew captioned her post, ""So… I went on a Zoom Date! I never thought I'd say that! The @queereye Fab Five made the getting ready process SO special,"
Fans and friends were quick to flood her with love and support, with Reese Witherspoon commenting: "Gosh, I love you," and Alyssa Milano writing: "I'm so here for this.
As for her perfect partner? Drew said it needs to be someone who isn't interested in marriage or kids. In fact, she's adamant that she'll never get married again.
""Oh, God, never!" she said, when Gayle asked. "Ugh! Never, nope, nope, there's no reason to be. I would maybe live with someone again, maybe, but I've had kids, and there's no way. I will never, ever, ever, ever get married again."
It's all just one step at a time for Drew right now, and to see her take those first steps is a beautiful thing. We're all backing her!
