After weeks of rumours, 23-year-old singer Dua Lipa and 20-year-old model Anwar Hadid have confirmed their romance with a PDA-filled public appearance at the British Summer Time Hyde Park music festival in London over the weekend.
Reports first started circulating about the new couple after Dua attended Anwar’s Malibu 20th birthday party earlier this month where they were spotted “cosying up” to each other. Dua was reportedly photographed “by [Hadid’s] side” on private Instagram stories as guests sang ‘Happy Birthday’.
Dua and Anwar met while the British singer was based in LA through Anwar’s older sister Gigi Hadid, who is a close friend of Dua’s. This isn’t the first time Anwar has been linked to one of his sister’s friend, either. He was previously rumoured to be dating Kendall Jenner – though the two never confirmed the romance, there was a public makeout session photographed in June of last year.
Dua split from her boyfriend of five years, Isaac Carew, just a few weeks ago, while Hadid previously dated actress Nicola Peltz, before the two split up last year.
The Sun reports that Lipa and Hadid went on a “string of dates” in Malibu, before she moved back to the UK. “Dua and Isaac have a lot of history and he holds a special place in her heart,” a source told the tabloid. “But she has been in Los Angeles almost ever since they split again and she has been able to spend time with Anwar, who she really gets on with. They are a lot closer in age and it’s just been fun. It’s a confusing time for both Dua and Isaac but she is just going with the flow and doing what feels right.”
