Somehow, the Maleficent actor manages to not only nail the brief every time, but she also catapults it into a whole new ball game of peak red carpet style (the next Jennifer Aniston, anyone?)
So, in the spirit of highlighting just how stylish Elle Fanning really is, we’ve rounded up 17 of her major looks that highlight her prowess, versatility, range and “je ne sais quoi”.

At only 23-years-old, her signature blonde locks, porcelain-like beauty and elegant style exudes a sense of maturity beyond her years—and for good reason. Fanning appeared in her first feature film alongside older sister Dakota in 2001 and at 13 was cast in a lead role in Super 8.
Her rise to becoming fashion queen is marked by many iconic films, including her global breakout as Aurora in the Disney’s Sleeping Beauty live action adaptation, Maleficent, and most recently as Empresses of Russia, Catherine The Great, in The Great. From Disney princess to real-life queen—art may as well imitate life...
When she arrived at the season two premiere of The Great in Los Angeles, Fanning took to the red carpet in a custom Atelier Versace two-piece ensemble fit for a royal. With a bedazzled bustier and silk taffeta skirt, the overall highlight was a Swarovski crystal-embroidery of Catherine herself front and centre on the garment. Big queen energy.
Continuing with the royal theme, Fanning took to Instagram to share several images of another timeless look with the caption “The Great press begins”. In the post, the actress is wearing tailored suit pants with a dusty pink corset and a pair of porcelain Catherine The Great portrait studs. She’s really going all out for the role.
Taking this 1800s-esque fashion in her stride, Fanning also posted a photo of herself donning a corset with ecru pants à la The Row, plus, a stunning pair of Jonathan Anderson for Loewe cracked-egg-yolk stilettos. In Fanning’s own words, “an egg-cellent outfit for the morning”.
But she doesn’t just turn a look when she’s promoting a project. At the LACMA Art + Film gala, Fanning wore a stunning sheer, backless black gown with an exaggerated sequined boutonniere. Truly a highlight of ours from the evening.
Over at the InStyle 2021 Awards, she stepped out in a show stopping chainlink crop top from Balmain’s anniversary Spring/Summer 2022 collection that was presented at Paris Fashion Week.
