What’s been the best career decision you’ve ever made?
Perhaps my first risk in business and crossroads came when I decided to give modelling a go to pay for books for university (to hopefully study law). This led to me taking a gap year to explore and travel to NYC and try modelling in the USA. That was 37 years ago and I never did go to law school but I don’t regret it for one moment. I built a journey and got to know myself along the way.
What’s been the worst career decision you’ve ever made?
I believe that the only bad decision is not to learn from experience. Every opportunity has a gem if we choose to learn from the experience.
What advice would you give to young women wanting to get ahead in their careers?
Business is a journey, and believe if you can find what you love, what rocks your boat and do it. You’ll never truly work another day in your life. Explore, experiment, give things a go if it resonates with you. Find what you love, your strengths and keep doing it.
In business, who inspires you and why?
I’m inspired by people and business who make a difference in this world. That’s why I tell my boys - find what you love and anything you put your heart into usually will make a difference. Make a profit, but don’t let it be your first priority.
