Ellen DeGeneres Surprised A Same-Sex Couple After Their Parents Wouldn’t Attend Wedding

This video will make you cry

After a same-sex couple tweeted Ellen DeGeneres asking her to come to their wedding in place of their parents, the TV host surprised the pair by inviting them on her show as guests and gifting them the wedding present of a lifetime.

Kate Austin tweeted photos to Ellen and Chrissy Teigen showing her and her fiancée, Sarah Sulsenti, celebrating their engagement in Paris, writing, “hi @chrissyteigen & @TheEllenShow!! my parents aren’t going to attend my wedding because they don’t like that i’m gay! i need someone to walk me down the aisle and someone else for a ‘father/daughter’ dance. plz come, my fiancée and i would cry 💕 #shootingmyshot.”

The post quickly went viral and Ellen replied writing, “See you tomorrow.” Though she told Kate and Sarah on the show that she unfortunately couldn’t make the wedding, Ellen brought out a huge square box, behind which was the couple’s family and friends who do support their relationship, prompting them to burst into tears.

“If it wasn’t for someone like you, I would have never had the courage to just go out there in the public and propose to my fiancée,” Kate told Ellen through tears. “So many people don’t accept that. You paved the way for queer women everywhere.”

Sarah then got down on one knee and took out a ring so that she and Kate both got to experience being proposed to.

Chrissy, John, over to you.
