Will Meghan Markle Give Her First Post-Royal Interview On ‘The Ellen Show’?

The pair are close friends

Ever since the Duke and Duchess of Sussex announced that they are stepping back from their position as senior members of the royal family, the couple’s future has become newsstand fodder.

The latest rumour to reign the headlines is the possibility of Meghan Markle giving her first tell-all interview on The Ellen Show but is there truth behind the whispers?

Speculation first came about when a source from the US chat show reportedly told The Daily Mail that an interview is set to grace the small screen.

“Ellen and Meghan have already discussed a sit-down interview,” the source told the British tabloid. “That has been in the works for quite some time now.”

“[Meghan] said Ellen understands her pain and suffering,” they continued. “That she epitomises authenticity. [Meghan] feels like they are kindred spirits.”

DeGeneres seemingly confirmed the rumours when quizzed by the paper last week. When asked if she was looking forward to the interview, she replied: “Sure, I’m excited.”

The Duchess of Sussex first met the talkshow host at a dog shelter in Los Angeles two years ago where Ellen persuaded the former actress to adopt her first dog, Bogart.

Recalling the moment in an interview with Best Health, the 38-year-old said: “Now, I don’t now her, but Ellen goes ‘Is that your dog?’ And I said, ‘No,’ and she’s like, ‘You have to take that dog.'”

“And I said, ‘Well, I’m deciding.’ And she’s like, ‘Rescue the dog!'” she continued.

“It’s sort of like if Oprah tells you to do something. I’m sitting there holding him and she’s like ‘Have you thought of a name for him yet?’ And I said, ‘Well, I think I’d name him Bogart,’ and she’s like ‘You’re taking the dog home.'”

The pair have stayed in touch ever since with Ellen and her wife Portia de Rossi even taking a trip to London to visit Harry and Meghan shortly after the birth of Archie.

After the couple came under fire for their private jet usage, DeGeneres opened up about her friendship with the duo on Twitter.

“Portia and I met Prince Harry and Meghan in England to talk about their work on wildlife conservation,” she wrote. “They were the most down-to-earth, compassionate people. Imagine being attacked for everything you do, when all you’re trying to do is make the world better.”

But a royal source has reportedly told People, that rumours of a post-Buckingham Palace interview are “categorically untrue”.

We guess we’ll just have to wait and see.
