Ellie Goulding Says She’s Been Asked “Non-Stop” About Having Children Since Her Wedding

"I hate being made to feel like that's what I'm supposed to be doing on this earth"

It seems that no matter how many women speak out about their struggles with infertility, the fact that they may not want children, or the fact that it’s no one’s business whether or not they plan to, people won’t stop asking the question.

Just yesterday, former Bachelorette Georgia Love fielded questions about pregnancy when her partner, Lee Elliott, shared a photo of the couple and fans thought they spied a baby bump – top tip: never assume a woman has a baby bump – and now singer Ellie Goulding has revealed she’s been dealing with questions about children “non-stop” since her August wedding to partner Caspar Jopling.

On her Instagram Stories, Goulding answered a fan’s question, “Do you think of having baby(ies) any time soon?” by writing, “Not particularly [grimace emoji]. As you can imagine it’s been a non-stop question.”

“I hate being made to feel like that’s what I’m supposed to be doing on this earth,” she continued. “I guess technically I am. But I see things differently in today’s world.”

Margot Robbie shared a similar sentiment following her wedding to British film producer Tom Ackerly in 2016. While on the press tour for her film Mary, Queen Of Scotts, the Australian actress said, “I got married and the first question in almost every interview is, ‘Babies? When are you having one?’”

“I’m so angry that there’s this social contract. You’re married, now have a baby. Don’t presume. I’ll do what I’m going to do.”

Tell them, queens.
