The Game of Thrones actress took a seat beside Regina King on The Graham Norton Show couch on Friday to chat about Beyoncé and Jay-Z's top secret Oscars after-party, revealing that she started crying upon meeting the world-famous singer.
"I did not expect to see them in the flesh, I wasn't expecting that at all. I was just like, 'Omg I'm invited'," she recalled. "It's happened, they let us in!"
But the Emmy-winning actress was caught off guard when the mother-of-three introduced herself to Clarke.

"Queen Bey came up to me, and obviously, looked at me like, 'Oh, I'd like to talk to you!' and I just did not respond in the way that I was thinking she thought that I might respond," the 33-year-old continued. "As in, she obviously came up and was like, this'll be cool, and I was like, 'Oh my god,'" Clarke explained, imitating the all-too-relatable bawling noise she made at the time.
"I was too many drinks in, started crying, it didn’t go well. I mean, literally, eyes welling up like, 'I can’t handle this, it’s too intense.'"
The Me Before You star later spilled further details on the power couple's star-studded bash, revealing that it was a strictly social media free zone.
"It's basically in a car park. It's not a car park, but it essentially is," she teased. "They power wash it and make it look wonderful. They say, 'This is the last picture you'll take' as you go down the stairs, they have a sign that says that where you're like, 'Oh OK, no phones, no social media, no nothing,' and then you get in and you’re like, 'Oh, that’s why.' This is like hallowed ground..."
Although it's not the first time the actress has expressed her disappointment with the way in which she greeted the singer.
Further demonstrating her humiliation over the moment, Clarke spoke about the awkward encounter during an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! back in May.
"She voluntarily came up to me. She was clearly a fan and I ruined it. I just was like: 'Uhhh,'" Clarke said. "I think I started crying. Exactly, that noise came out of my mouth! She was like, 'Hey, this uncomfortable now. I thought you'd be cool, you're not cool. Bye!'"
"It breaks my heart how much I messed it up."
Ah, celebrities. They're just like us! Well, sort of...
