Emma Watson Wore An Australian Designer To The MTV Movie & TV Awards

Where she won Best Actor.

To yesterday’s MTV Movie & TV Awards, Emma Watson chose to wear Australian designer KitX.

Of course, it makes perfect sense for Emma to wear the Sydney-born brand, as its main focus is on ethical and sustainable fashion, which is implemented by consciously sourcing materials that don’t harm the planet.

Her inspiring speech about gender equality was one of the most talked about moments of the 2017 MTV Movie & TV Awards, however, no one seemed to notice the other inspiring message she was sending while giving it.

The 27-year-old, who received the first-ever gender neutral award in the history of acting, also pinned a blue badge to her black and silver dress.

The pin is from GLAAD, a group working to better the lives of LGBTQ+ and marginalised people, and the blue ‘&’ symbol stands for solidarity and togetherness.

“Together, we resist the powers that seek to divide us. We must stand in solidarity,” the GLAAD website states. “All of us. Because no one is just one identity, and many of us are under attack. All marginalised communities are under attack. The ampersand is the symbol that unites us.”

Emma wasn’t the only one to wear one of the pins to the award ceremony, either.

13-year-old Millie Bobby Brown, who also won a Best Actor award – and gave the most heartfelt speech – also donned the badge.
