Emma Watson Has Returned To Social Media To Address The Reports She’s Engaged

It comes after a publication called her partner Leo Robinton her "rumoured fiancé"

Emma Watson has broken her peaceful social media hiatus to gently rebuke rumours that she and her boyfriend Leo Robinton are engaged. The Harry Potter and Little Women actress seems to be responding to recent claims from tabloids, specifically a story that ran recently with photos of the couple that called Robinton her “rumoured fiance.”

The actress shared the statement via Twitter, as many will know Watson’s Instagram is labelled as “currently dormant and is not being updated” per a note in the profile.

Spread across a number of tweets, Watson’s statement read:

Dear Fans,

Rumours about whether I’m engaged or not, or whether my career is “dormant or not” are ways to create clicks each time they are revealed to be true or untrue. If I have news—I promise I’ll share it with you. In the mean time please assume no news from me just means I’m quietly spending the pandemic the way most people are—failing to make sourdough bread (!), caring for my loved ones and doing my best not to spread a virus that is still affecting so many people. I am sending so much love to you, hoping you’re ok and as well and happy as you can be in these strange times. And again, thank you to everyone working so hard to keep us safe and well.

The succinct message makes many prescient points. We’re sure Watson’s fans would be pleased to hear the actress is spending her current—well-earned—downtime peacefully with her family and friends, regardless of whether her marital status has changed. Thankfully, most of her fans are in agreeance.

For those who are still a little curious as to what Watson has been up to, it seems the actress has simply been enjoying some time keeping to herself.

A small furore broke out in February 2021 after news that “Emma Watson quits acting” began circulating, but those rumours were swiftly put to bed by a comment from Watson’s manager. “Emma’s social media accounts are dormant but her career isn’t,” Jason Weinberg of Untitled Entertainment told Entertainment Weekly.

When she’s ready, we’re sure her fans will welcome her back.
