Sophie Turner Had The Best Reactions To Her First-Ever Emmys Nomination

Of course, Joe Jonas had something to say too

Yesterday, the nominees for the 71st Primetime Emmy Awards were announced with pretty much all of the biggest names in TV (minus queen Julia Roberts, who didn’t seem to mind) in the running for an award on September 22nd.

Game of Thrones‘ final season cleaned up, setting a new record for most earned in a single year by any drama series with 32 total inclusions, including nominations for each of the show’s main actresses – Sophie Turner, Emilia Clarke, Maisie Williams, Lena Heady and Gwendoline Christie.

Turner, who played Sansa Stark on the show for its decade-long run, celebrated her first-ever Emmys nomination while honeymooning with her partner Joe Jonas in the Maldives

Instead of her usual joking manner, the 23-year-old posted a heartfelt message to Instagram Stories, writing: “I’m beyond humbled. I truly never thought that this would ever happen. This is the best farewell to the show that has been my life for the past 10 years.”

She also congratulated her GoT costars, “queens” Maisie Williams, Gwendoline Christie, and Lena Headey.

Her proud husband, Joe Jonas, congratulated his new wife by sharing a throwback photo of the two of them together, writing, “So incredibly proud of you.”

Nikolaj Coster-Waldau spoke to the The Hollywood Reporter about his nomination for Best Supporting Actor category for his role as Jaime Lannister on Game of Thrones. “I was just on the phone with Gwendoline, who is also very excited,” he said. “It’s unreal. We’re all just so thrilled, all of us. To have Kit, Emilia, myself, Peter, Alfie, Gwendoline, Maisie, Sophie, Lena, Carice … 10 of us? It’s insane! None of us expected this.”
