We bet you never thought you’d be asked to send a cheeky snap of your bits to a social media site like Facebook.
But in very surprising news, Facebook has asked users to send in their nude photos.
Why (you are definitely asking)? Facebook is teaming up with a small Australian Government agency to help combat revenge porn and the sharing of images without consent.
As part of the pilot program, users will be asked to send Facebook any images they do not want to be shared on social media, the ABC reports.
“It would be like sending yourself your image in email, but obviously this is a much safer, secure end-to-end way of sending the image without sending it through the ether,” e-Safety Commissioner Julie Inman Grant explained.
Then, the images sent would be turned into a “unique digital footprint” to ensure another user cannot upload the same photo.
To our relief, Facebook has pointed out that any images sent to the database will not be stored.
According to a recent study, one in five Australians has experienced nude or sexual images taken without their consent.
