Underwear and corset detailing
It’s a concept we’ve seen before, but this season, it was literal. From mesh bodysuit tops at Christopher Kane to supportive, sucking in corsets at Dion Lee, designers were taking off the layers, one step at a time.
Longline leather coats
After the Matrix glasses obsession of 2018, it’s no surprise that longline leather trenches are taking kindly to our eyes. Seen in shades of burgundy and buttery brown, designers all across the cities were opting for sleek and soft leathers to get across a sort of more-is-more minimalist approach.
Patterned, coloured, crazy legs!
It was anything goes when it came to brightly coloured, fantastically printed tights this season. From checkerboard rainbows at Shrimps to Clockwork Orange hues at Burberry, legs got an eclectic transformation, just in time for winter.
Double on the hip
Forget the humble bumbag, this season was all about the double saddle. Twice as nice, double-bags at Zimmermann, Sacai and Max Mara were a statement take on the biggest street style trend of 2018.
Leather pants
80s shapes were well and truly alive this season, no more so than with a baggy, cinched-waist pant. Throw in a supple leather in a neutral hue and you’ve got yourself a trend.
Floral fevers
Designers didn’t wait until spring to unleash their love of flowers. Seen in 3D at Prada and all over pretty-as-a-picture dresses at Valentino, the season was packed with punchy garden prints.
