I was living in London when the whole high-low fashion collaboration kicked off.
I remember lining up for hours outside H&M when the first ever designer collaboration launched. The year was 2004 and they’d collaborated with the late Karl Lagerfeld. Suddenly, everyone could afford designer clothes. It made all our high-low dreams come true. It democratised fashion. Others followed – Stella McCartney, Victor & Rolf, Robert Cavalli.
But this isn’t about H&M, it’s about Mango, which happens to be one of my favourite places to shop for chic, affordable fashion. And, wait for it, they’ve just launched the dream collaboration: Victoria Beckham x Mango.
In an interview with WWD, Beckham explained she wanted to “speak to a wider audience in a way that feels relevant to my brand and retains my aesthetic and DNA”. And her wider audience was clearly ready – the collection has almost sold out (don’t worry – there are still plenty of pieces left).
You’ll see Beckham’s signature polished aesthetic running throughout the collection and if you’re looking for effortless wardrobe staples, you’re in luck (think satin shirts, flared trousers, elegant bodysuits and more). This might just be my favourite designer collaboration of all time.
