Sydney Father Admits To Leaving Son In Car On 40-Degree Day To Play Pokies

He will be sentenced next month

A Sydney father will face sentencing next month for leaving his young son in a car alone for an hour while he played the pokies.

The 32-year-old man, who has pleaded guilty, has admitted that he left his 5-year-old boy in his car on a 40-degree day outside the Guildford Hotel last month.

As Nine News reports, the father allegedly spent an hour inside hotel playing gaming machines while his son stayed in the air-conditioned car.

Police were alerted when a parking inspector found the vehicle with the little boy inside.

As news.com.au reports, the father initially claimed he left the child in the car because he would not have been allowed inside the hotel.

The man was found to have been driving with a cancelled licence.
