Fergie’s New Music Video ‘M.I.L.F $’ Is Causing A Stir

Empowering or offensive?

It’s not exactly your average mothers’ group.

A-list mamas Chrissy Teigen, Kim Kardashian, Alessandra Ambrosio and Gemma Ward all appear in Fergie’s latest music video, ‘M.I.L.F $.

And by “appear”, we mean “drench themselves in milk” “crawl across the floor in their lingerie”, and, uh, breastfeed.

The video is, of course, taking the internet by storm.

And there’s plenty to like about M.I.L.F. (which stands for ‘Moms I’d Like to Follow”.

The women are all sexy and empowered. One mama is running for mayor. Another – Chrissy Teigen – is gloriously breastfeeding in broad daylight with little baby Luna.

And, just a week after the New York Times sparked outrage everywhere with a trend piece about the ugliness of “mom hair”, such a sexy, fun, gorgeous tribute to motherhood is refreshing.

However the whole thing is about as subtle as a sledgehammer. The video is directed by the very same guy (Colin Tilley) who brought us the feminist triumph of Nicki Minaj’s ‘Anaconda‘ music video, so, yes, you can expect butts and boobs in your face.

And of course, this isn’t the first time Fergie’s embraced her sexuality – because who could forget the Black Eyed Peas classic ‘My Humps‘?

And as much as the video is supposed to celebrate the sexual empowerment of women, most new mamas will be left feeling worse after watching it not better.

After all, Kim Kardashian’s waist is cinched in to oblivion (unless Photoshop has also given a helping hand) and the mums are air brushed and styled to perfection.

What do you think?
