‘Game of Thrones’ Fans Are Calling For Arya Stark To Get A Spinoff

Don't get your hopes up

In the Game of Thrones series finale, Arya Stark sailed off to discover what was west of Westeros. The youngest Stark daughter said goodbye to her brother Jon Snow, sister Sansa and brother Bran, to travel to parts unknown. Now, fans are begging for Arya to get her own spinoff series to see where her travels take her.

The character arc seemed to close the door on Arya’s past as an assassin and faceless man, and instead focus on her as an explorer. One Game of Thrones fan took to Twitter to share thoughts on whether they would watch an Arya spinoff, as well as to propose a title for it.

However, fans idea of a spinoff was shortlived after Casey Bloys, HBO’s Programming Chief, told Deadline that it was not a possibility.

Nope, nope, nope. No. Part of it is, I do want this show — this Game of Thrones, Dan and David’s show — to be its own thing,” Bloys said. “I don’t want to take characters from this world that they did beautifully and put them off into another world with someone else creating it. I want to let it be the artistic piece they’ve got. That’s one of the reasons why I’m not trying to do the same show over. George has a massive, massive world; there are so many ways in. That’s why we’re trying to do things that feel distinct — and to not try and re-do the same show.”

He added, “That’s probably one of the reasons why, right now, a sequel or picking up any of the other characters doesn’t make sense for us.”

Currently, HBO has three GoT spinoffs in the works. Bloys went on to inform Deadline that the pilot for the first Game of Thrones prequel, unofficially dubbed ‘The Long Night’, will be shooting in June.
