Prepare The Dragons, There’s A Second ‘Game Of Thrones’ Prequel On Its Way

And no, it's not 'House Of The Dragon'

Having left our screens—and our hearts—in 2019, the realm of Game of Thrones looks to be hanging around long after that controversial finale.

And while the preexisting prequel, House Of The Dragon, has drawn online buzz for quite some time, it seems like yet another Targaryen centric tale is set to hit the small screen.

Set to appear on HBO, Tales Of Dunk And Egg is already said to be in production with sources claiming that it’s a high priority for HBO as the network looks to build on the success of Game of Thrones, according to Variety.

And while we patiently wait for said prequels to mentally transport us back to Westeros, we’ve rounded up everything you need to know about Tales Of Dunk And Egg below.

What Is Tales Of Dunk And Egg About?

Based on the series of fantasy novels by the notable George R. R. Martin, Tales Of Dunk And Egg follows the adventures of Ser Duncan the Tall (Dunk) and a young Aegon V Targaryen (Egg), 90 years prior to the events of A Song of Ice and Fire, the series of which Game Of Thrones was based.

According to Variety, each episode is an hour long and the show will be based on the stories in Martin’s trilogy: The Hedge Knight, The Sworn Sword and The Mystery Knight, which were all collected and published together as A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms in 2015.

Who Has Been Cast In Tales Of Dunk And Egg?

With production of the series only just beginning, no cast members have been announced just yet. However, as we now know, the series is set to include a young Aegon V Targaryen, meaning that Targaryen family members should make an appearance in the series.

And, of course, as the story will be set 90 years prior to Game Of Thrones, it’s safe to say that Emilia Clarke’s Daenerys Targaryen is likely not to appear.

When Will Tales Of Dunk And Egg Debut?

As the prequel has only just begun production, it is likely that it won’t hit our screens for quite some time.

But in the meantime, fans can expect—and count down to—the House Of The Dragon prequel, which is set to debut in 2022.
