Game of Thrones is no stranger to introducing us to new couples, whether it be romance or a power alliance, the list of characters we’ve seen come together is endless. In the first episode of Season 8, viewers were teased with the potential of two different couples coming together by the season’s end.
Sansa Stark and Tyrion Lannister: The two were married back in Season 3 in what was one of the most tragic weddings of the series so far. The couple never consummated their marriage, and their actual marriage status remains unclear – meaning they could technically still be married. In the first episode of Season 8, Sansa and Tyrion are reunited with Daenerys’ hand claiming the last time they saw one another was at Joffrey’s wedding. Following their meeting, Tyrion spots Bran down below in the courtyard, who had been watching them the entire time.

Gendry and Arya: The pair first met in Season 1 and become friends over the course of three seasons as they travelled together North. They were eventually separated when Melisandre took Gendry for his royal blood, as he is the bastard son of Robert Baratheon. You can tell Arya missed Gendry when she spots him riding in the army processional entering Winterfell. She eventually finds him making weapons out of dragon glass.
“That’s a nice axe you made. You’ve got better”, Arya tells him.
“Gee, thanks, so have you. I mean, you look good,” he replies.
Arya asks him to make her a weapon she herself designed, meaning the two will have to come back together in coming episodes.
