The annual G’Day USA Gala recognises our local homegrown talent in Hollywood, and this year was no different – but instead of focusing on our show-stopping acting and on-screen talent, the focus was turned towards those making their mark on bushfire relief. Actresses such as Danielle Macdonald and Naomi Watts turned their attention to the incredible work of firefighters, charities and fundraising efforts.

Speaking at the G’Day USA event in Beverly Hills, the Bird Box star recounted the “horrifying” experience she went through on a recent trip to NSW. “We were at my cousin’s house at Bateman’s Bay over Christmas and three days later their house burned down,” she told The Daily Telegraph. “We ended up driving 13 hours south to get out and it was a journey that should have taken three hours.
“But seeing the dead animals in the burnt-out areas we drove through is something I can never unsee. It’s horrifying”.
