1 In 4 Believe Time Travel Will Happen Before Gender Equality In The Workplace

Things are still clearly stuck in the past

If you’ve clicked on this story, we’re sorry to be the bearers of some disheartening news about gender equality in the workforce.

According to a new survey from the Rockefeller Foundation, one in four Americans believe that time travel will be possible before half of the Fortune 500 companies are fronted by women.

The Fortune 500 is a list of the largest US corporations by total revenue for the fiscal year, compiled by Fortune magazine. Currently, women make up just 6 percent of CEOs in the Fortune 500.

The survey, titled “Women in Leadership: Tackling Corporate Culture from the Top,” found that 65 percent of people said the attitudes of men in major leadership positions had been a hurdle for women rising to the top. Are you nodding your head in agreement?

Managing director at the Rockefeller Foundation told the Huffington Post that the survey findings were “sad”.

She explained that the need to hire more women in the corporate sphere lies with men, who make up the majority of leadership positions.

“They’ll have to provide the opportunities for women to rise up through the pipeline,” she said.

To anyone overlooking a woman for a leadership position, let us remind you of the wise words of our queens, Tina Fey and Amy Poehler.
