The sneak preview shows the actress recreating the late Prime Minister speaking to press outside her home shortly before being elected in 1979.
Netflix announced that the Sex Education star would take on the role of the controversial Prime Minister back in September 2019 alongside a statement from the actress which read: “I am so excited to be joining the cast and crew of The Crown and to have the opportunity to portray such a complicated and controversial woman.”

“Thatcher was undoubtedly formidable but I am relishing exploring beneath the surface and, dare I say, falling in love with the icon who, whether loved or despised, defined an era.”
During an interview with The Guardian, Anderson opened up about how she was preparing to take on the role of the ‘Iron Lady’ – going so far as to trying to “find compassion” past the controversy.
“To a certain degree, it’s very helpful for an actor, at least in my experience, to slightly fall in love with the character you’re playing, regardless of what your opinion might be of them, if it’s a historical character, particularly,” the 51-year-old explained. “So I have.”
The couple most recently collaborated in 2007 on The Last King of Scotland which Morgan wrote and Anderson starred in.
It was recently announced that season four will be the last installment of The Crown with viewers bidding farewell to the Windsor clan in 2003.
The upcoming episodes will explore Thatcher’s Number 10 reign and her relationship with the royal family.
The release date has yet to be confirmed but it’s likely to air in late 2021.
