The 2018 Golden Globe Nominations have arrived, and it’s a real mixed bag! Fans of the illustrious awards ceremony have been left somewhat underwhelmed following a series of disappointments in certain categories.
Greta Gerwig (Ladybird), Jordan Peele (Get Out), Dees Rees (Mudbound)and Patty Jenkins (Wonder Woman) were all left off the Best Director nominations list, despite the fact that their films were critical and financial success stories in 2017. Wonder Womandidn’t even score a single nomination, while the other’s did in categories for acting.
Meanwhile, TiffanyHadish’spraised comedic performance in Girls Tripfailed to score a nomination, and Kumail Nanjinai’s comedy The Big Sickwas left off the list too, despite becoming one of the highest-grossing indie films of the year.
However, it’s not all bad news. Australian actress Margot Robbie has scored a nomination for Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy for her role inI, Tonya, Nicole Kidman received a nod for her epic performance in Big Little Lies, and James Franco has landed a nomination for his hilarious role in The Disaster Artist.
The 75th annual Golden Globes, hosted by Seth Meyers, will air in only a few short weeks on January 7th 2018, so let’s see who’s been nominated below…
