2022 is proving to be a big year for Australian talent, with our favourite leading ladies taking home a Golden Globe Award.
While the controversial ceremony shifted to a virtual format at the very last minute, our very own homegrown talent Nicole Kidman and Sarah Snook beat out the likes of Olivia Coleman, Lady Gaga and Jennifer Coolidge for the accolades.
Kidman was awarded Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture for her performance as famed comedian Lucille Ball in Being The Ricardos.
This is Kidman’s sixth Golden Globe Award, with the actress most recently winning in 2018 for her praised performance as Celeste Wright in hit Big Little Lies.
Snook was honoured as the Best Supporting Actress in a Television Series for her portrayal as Shiv Roy in Succession.
It was a big night for the lauded HBO show, with Snook’s co-star Jeremy Strong, who plays Kendall, winning Best Performance by an Actor in a Television Series.
Succession won the Best Television Show, Drama for its critically acclaimed and satirical depiction of a global conglomerate and the dysfunctional (albeit entertaining) family who run it.
Emerging actor Kodi Smit-McPhee also represented Australia well, beating out Ben Affleck and Jamie Dornan for the Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role award for The Power Of The Dog.
We can expect to see more from this Adelaide native with Smit-McPhee portraying Jimmie Rodgers in the highly anticipated Elvis biopic, directed by Baz Luhrmann.
Although the lack of festivities and typical couch selfies has us wondering, the nominees and winners are saving their glamorous dresses for Hollywood’s night of nights—the Oscar awards, in case you were wondering—we’ve rounded up all of the Golden Globe Award winners below.
