Grease is the word, again. A resurfaced theory from 2013 is gaining new popularity with fans, and it will change the way you look at the classic hit.
Reddit user atomicbolt claims that throughout the 1978 musical there are hidden clues that point to Sandy actually drowning on the beach with Danny.
First clue, the lyrics to ‘Summer Nights’, when Danny says, “saved her life, she nearly drowned.” Here, the reddit user explains:
“Sandy actually did drown on the beach that day. As she drowned, her brain deprived of oxygen, she had a vivid coma fantasy involving her summer fling with Danny, where they shared a magical year of high school together.”
The theory continues, pointing out the car flying at the end of the film, which “promptly defies the laws of gravity and flies at into the sky.The whole film is a dream sequence leading to Sandy ascending to ‘heaven’.
